Peconic Wildcats Hockey ● Home ●
The Peconic Wildcats are a Tier III tournament-bound travel hockey organization operating under USA Hockey and the New York State Amateur Hockey Association, and proudly run by the Peconic Hockey Foundation — a volunteer-based, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to bringing and growing the sport of ice hockey on the East End of Long Island.
Since our inception in 2014, we've grown from a handful of house-level teams into an organization of over 12 travel hockey teams and 150 players. In 2023, that growth reached a new milestone when we partnered with the Town of Riverhead to build our home rink at Veteran's Memorial Park in Calverton — a year-round facility offering ice hockey and skating programs for the entire East End community. Today, the majority of our home games and practices take place right here in Calverton, with teams competing across Long Island, the tri-state area, and in select tournaments throughout the Northeast.
What is the Wildcat's home rink(s)?
In 2023 The Peconic Wildcats partnered with the Town of Riverhead and built their home rink at Veteran's Memorial Park in Calverton. Our rink will be open year-round and offer ice hockey and skating programs for all of the residents of the East End of Long Island. As we move into the 2026-2027 season, our plan is for all home games and team practices to be primarily at our new rink in Calverton. Depending upon your team and level most of your games will be on Long Island. Some teams play in different leagues which may require travel to rinks in the tri-state area. In addition, teams may have 1 our two tournaments out of state at rinks in the Northeast.
Where does the team travel to?
As mentioned above, the majority of our games are on Long Island, between Suffolk & Nassau County. Depending upon which league you are in, some teams travel to New York City, Westchester County and New Jersey. Our teams will participate in 2 tournaments throughout the season, which will be out of state. These tournaments will be scheduled once teams are picked, and tournament information becomes available.
